Amanda is an herbalist encouraged by recent success foraging for signs of life in Los Angeles. She is seen regularly on "What a Relief", a show on herbs for Veria, a holistic cable television network. Previously she was in private practice for many years in Beverly Hills, and Ojai, California, where she grew, gathered, and made most of her plant medicines surrounded by orange groves, oaks, and avocados. Amanda studies healing around the world, learning from plants, and curanderas, as well as from physicians at home and abroad. She learned about medicinal herbs in British classrooms, the rain forest of Amazon, in Rio de Janeiro, through Asia from Beijing to the Mekong River, in Europe, Australia, Russia, Mexico, and every state in the U.S. She was appointed the Senior Clinical Tutor at Canterbury College in Christchurch, New Zealand, where she spent 2005 integrating their curriculum, new research and clinical practice. She earned her degree in Phytotherapy (Herbal Medicine) from Britain's College of Phytotherapy (Phyto, Greek for "plant"), and a BA in Medieval History from Vassar College. She teaches in hospitals, medical schools, and in open meadows. Amanda is the author of two popular books on women's health, The Herbal Menopause Book, and Herbal Remedies for Women, she contributed to two recent books on natural medicine, the New Menopause Book, edited by Taliaferri et al, and the text, Traditional Medicines for Modern Times; Antidiabetic Plants, edited by Amala Soumyanath, CRC Press. Her most recent adventure has been eploring for urban weeds and growing an organic herb garden in the wilds of Los Angeles.

Margi Flint owns and operates EarthSong Herbals, a busy family practice and herb school on the East Coast. She regularly speaks at nationally known herbal seminars in the U.S. and returns to Canada and England regularly to lecture.

Phyllis D. Light, RH, has almost 25 years of clinical experience as an Herbal Consultant and teacher. In addition to formal studies, she traditionally trained with her Cherokee/Creek Grandmother Rosie Light, Tommie Bass and other Appalachian Folk Herbalists throughout the region and is considered an expert in Southern and Appalachian Folk Medicine.
Through Diversified Nursing Services, Phyllis is a continuing education provider for nurses, nursing home administrators, physical therapists and occupational therapists. Phyllis is professor of herbal studies at Clayton College of Natural Heath. She is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild, a member of the American Folklore Society and a Registered Healthcare Educator. Paul Red Elk of Minnesota

Paul is a Lakota Herbalist and the grandson of a Lakota medicine man from whom he learned traditional herbal medicine. He currently is a professor at Minneapolis Technical College where he teaches Western Herbal Medicine classes.
Paul is an American Indian seed saver who promotes the use of native foods and American Indain agriculture, and Indigenous Medicines as a viable option to improve health in the Indian community. He has been collecting Natvie American seeds for 25 years. His collection includes some very rare seeds donated by Native Americans elders, the Science Museum of Minneosta, and seeds from archeological sites.
Paul has served as Program Director of the Dream of Wild Health for 5 years where his focus was on restoring forgotten Native American agriculture. While program director he developed a Native youth Garden Program. He also worked with various Native youth in a Youth Garden Program within the Twin Cities. Paul has also worked with the Ramsey County Historical Society Gibb's Museum. Here he installed a Turtle Effigy Medicine Garden, and restored their old Native American seed collection.
Paul served as curator of the Ethno botany, and Native American seed collection at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Here he installed Native American Medicine Gardens and Three Sister's vegetable gardens, and a pre contact early Native garden showing old forgotten native foods. As curator at the Science Museum he also worked with the Science Museum Youth Group teaching about Indian lifestyles and Indian agriculture.
He is currently working to reintroduce ideas regarding soil amendment using minerals outlined in 1936 governmental pamphlets. Current day soils have been depleted of minerals; therefore food growth in this soil is depleted of those essential minerals. The central focus of this work is to increase the essential minerals in foods by amending the soil they are grown in. He has tested some of these native foods for nutrimental values, and has found surprising results.

Althea, MA, AHG, L.Ac., CST is a Professional Herbalist, Master Gardener, Licensed Acupuncturist, and Structural Therapist versed in various methods of bodywork therapy, both Oriental and Western. She is founder and President of the Chicago College of Healing Arts, an institution that has Illinois State Board of Education approval and which offers a Massage Therapy Program, a number of herbal programs ranging from short to a three year clinical training program and a number of other healing modalities. She owns and maintains an 80-acre herbal farm in Indiana that is utilized by both the Chicago College as a teaching forum, as a product source for her herbal pharmacy and as an experimental site for the cultivation or rare and endangered botanicals.
Althea is author of Living With Herbs: A Materia Medica and the Kiva Handbook for Alternative Medicine. She received a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Mary's of the Woods College and a Masters Degree in Literature from Indiana University, a degree in Chinese Medicine from the Midwest College for the Study of Oriental Medicine, and numerous other certifications in the field of healing arts. Victoria, RH, AHG (PeatohahNape Tamsah) of Shawnee and Scot/Irish descent, is trained in allopathic and Traditional Indigenous medicine. She has worked in the American medical field for 15 years. Ms. Fortner has been practicing herbal medicine since 1972 and is the owner of Shawnee Moon Herbaceuticals. She in on the Board of Directors for Earth Circle Sanctuary, Inside Dharma, and the Living Insights Center, also the American Herbalist Guild for eight years.
Victoria is listed in the International Who's Who in Medicine, Second Edition (1995), and has acted as Herbal Consultant to the Missouri Botanical Gardens/Shaw Arboretum on their Osage Garden project, and a division of Regis International. Victoria has artwork as a part of the permanent collection in the National Museum of the American Indian / Smithsonian, Wash, D.C.
Victoria has been a spiritual advisor for Native American inmates in the Missouri prison system. As a lecturer, she travels nationally presenting information and workshops on Native American history, culture and tradition and on all phases of herbal medicine (recognition, gathering, processing, formulation and application). Ms Fortner derives her knowledge from both Native and non-Native traditions of herbalogy, and with her strong medical background, offers presentations that speak to all levels of interest. She is an indigenous dancer, storyteller, counselor, award-winning artist and craft-person. Mindy, AHG, has 35 years experience in the natural products and health care industries. She has served as Program Specialist for the Integrative Resource Center at the University of Colorado Hospital, Anschutes Cancer Center, where she developed and implemented specialized educational programs and resources on complementary therapies for patients and staff. Mindy served as Director of Education, and later, Director of Research at the Herb Research Foundation's non-profit medical library. She was on the faculty of the Colorado-based Rocky Mt. Center for Botanical Studies and at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy; she was co-owner and a faculty member of the California School of Herbal Studies.
A licensed esthetician and massage therapist, she has founded and owned several herb and essential oil businesses, most recently Green Scentsations - an independent consulting company specializing in botanical therapies, aromatherapy education and product development. She is a nationally certified Registered Aromatherapist, a founding member of the American Herbalist Guild and associate editor of the American Herb Association Newsletter. She has served on the education committees of the Aromatherapy Registration Council and the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists, and is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. She is on the advisory board of the Australasian College of Health Sciences, on the board of directors for the non-profit, United Plant Savers, and on the Cosmeceuticals Scientific Advisory Board for the Supply Side West Trade Show and Conference. She serves as committee chair for botanicals in cosmetics for the American Herb Products Association.
A prolific writer and lecturer, Ms Green has authored over 40 magazine articles and professional papers on botanicals. She is co-author of Aromatherapy, A Complete Guide to the Healing Art; and author of Calendula and Natural Perfumes, and has contributed to numerous other books on herbs. She has conducted many seminars and training programs for professionals and the lay public, and provided consulting services in various aspects of complementary health care. As an expert in botanical therapies, she has provided more than 400 interviews with leading magazines and newspapers on the subject of herbs and health.
Ms. Green holds a bachelor's degree in Holistic Health Sciences and a master's in Health and Human Services from Columbia Pacific University. She has extensive training in the advanced uses of essential oils from Purdue University and comprehensive training in botanicals and spa therapies from other institutes of higher education. Janell is a Florist, Herbalist, trained in Therapeutic Touch, and Reiki. She is the owner and founder of Lavender and Rose Herbary and Florals opened in 1999. A sweet little herb shop in Richmond, Indiana where she formulates and markets a natural skin care line, teas, tinctures, aromatherapy bath, body and home. For the past 28 years she lived and raised three children on a beautiful 60 acre farm on the southern Ohio and Indiana border among a bounty of native medicinal herbs. Now four grandchildren are walking the land and learning the herbal way. In 1975 she co-founded Rose City Nursery, a landscape, garden center, and greenhouse business still doing business today. Janell studied floral design from the Indianapolis School of Design and Phil Roloda School of Floral Design, Anaheim, California. After many years of floral design I saw the amazing healing power of plants and flowers and their impact on the people who received them. Then the winds changed--literally the plants spoke in a different way and my green pilgrimage transformed. Ian is owner of Body Balance Personal Training. He holds a certification from ACE (American Council on Exercise) for about 9 years and has been working as a trainer for over 3 years. He loves his job and truly enjoys helping people make positive changes in their lives through exercise and healthy eating. Generally, he helps people lose weight by designing a comprehensive, customized fitness program, showing them how to eat healtheir to lose weight. In addition to training and running Body Balance Personal Training he enjoys sports of all kinds. He stays active by playing in at least a couple of basketball leagues every year and also coaches when he has the time, mostly basketball and football.
